How to: change Nova 21-4C conrod

Hi

Need some help, I'm trying to change the conrod on a Novarossi 21-4C. I can't get the conrod big end off the crank. I do have the sleeve removed.

Anyone got any tips/tricks? I haven't cranked any force to try to pop the conrod off as I don't want to damage anything.

you should be able to pull it off with your fingers. Try spraying a little WD-40 on the crank pin. If it still does not come off slip some fuel tubing on the tips of a needle nose pliers and use those to grab it and pull it off.

Do you have an older dog bone from a different vehicle ? by chance a Hpi Savage bone ?

You can slide a tie wrap behind the rod and pull the rod off.

if its a team its very difficult to get the rod off because of the tightened up tolerances with the cnc piston , tap the crank in to make sure the bearing is fully seated in the block , this will allow a little more room to get the rod off the crank .

if its the microcast piston it should be very easy and almost fall right out , especially if the rod is actually worn out enough to warrant changing it ;)

if it will not come off easy it probably doesnt need changed unless u had some kind of a mishap during your teardown :)

the rod should really come off very easy when it at the top of the stroke

yes i have changed hundreds if not thousands of rods :D

if you are in doubt and dont feel like experimenting with your expensive engine you should probably send it to one of the engine guys ;) to have your services performed :D

Thanks for the answers guys. Use an old dog bone and it popped off easily.

I previously had v-specs and they were never that tight a fit.

For me that is not too familiar with the English language, what is a dog bone?
