Take a look at the diff, make sure you have oil in it and once you at it look at the gears. Check the bearings are not lock. When was the last time you did any maintenance?

when you roll it back a forth on the ground by hand does it make the crunching noise? if its really hard to roll then you have something binding you'll have to start taking thing off to find where it is start with the tires then motor the drive shafts then you can check each diff at a time till you find what needs t o b e repaired

Is your kit new pre assembled or did you buy it used. Get a manual and read through the whole thing from your posting it sounds like you have a mesh problem. Mesh is clutch bell (Front of motor) and Spur gear (Center Differential).

You tube > RC nitro Mesh you should get some hits and pointers. Again read the manual don't be afraid to break down you kit and reassemble that's how you learn do it in sections and place the parts / organize them so you have a reference point.
