hi there,
i am getting my car ready for my next meeting. and i am now checking my losi 8ight setup on my M-racing setup system. but for some reason my car will not sit on the 30mm blocks i made? (following the hudy setup book)

i have to push the car on the blocks before i can read my setup? and it will just bounce up off the blocks. what is the problem? i thought it was my ride height because i am currently running 30mm ride height all round because my local track is super bumpy?

should i set my ride height before i set the rest of my losi 8ight?

Push down on your car, read gauge, adjust, push down on car, read gauge. Repeat as needed.

It's normal for the car to spring up. The 30mm blocks give a consistant and repeatable ride height for you to record suspension settings at. That is all.

You can only repeat a camber setting exactly if you set it at exactly the ride ht it was set to last time you gauged it.

The blocks give you a fixed reference point. You can also remove your shocks or just strap the car down. I just push it down when checking the gauges..

just push the car down on the blocks for each and every setting,. why the h$ll u think the blocks are there..

i thought there was a problem because it is not mentioned in the hudy setup book. but thanks for the reply i might try to set it up with the shocks removed. is that ok to set up the car with the shocks removed?

I would assume that is a problem... as the shocks pretty much control the arms settings...

ok cheers, the shocks stay on.

just one quick question...

when you the set the front toe of your car do you have the transmitter and receiver turned on so it is central? if not what do you do?

From what I'm reading you are pushing the chassis down with the gauge blocks under the chassis. That is not how you do it you push it down then slide the gauge block under the chassis to check ride height

im not checking my ride height. when i have my setup system fitted to my losi 8ight and the blocks under the chassis.

the blocks are for the car to rest on to get an accurate measurement of the camber etc. but the problem is the car springs back when i press the car on the blocks to read the setup.

but thanks anyway i have had some replies that tell me it is normal

Keep in mind that the camber reading you get is going to be greater than static camber at ride ht. If your useing someone elses setup, then you may need to increase camber slightly.

With my Hudy I find that -2.5/-4 is a good starting point.

I turn my radio on when setting steering. Remember that camber effects toe, and toe effects camber. You have to check both every time you make a front end adjustment.

and they don't use blocks underneath the car. would this give a better reading because it would be as if the system was the wheels and give a true reading?
