Default Is this compressor worth it?

I got a coupon to get this compressor for $39.99 and want to know if it's worth it? I would only use it at the track to clean my buggy in between heats, blow off tires etc. I have a home compressor, so this would be strictly track use. Please don't tell me which compressor to buy, i just want to know about this one.

Thanks

well I have a 3gal Craftsman compressor I use at home, as well as at the track and its 120psi and works great! The one you linked is 100psi, which is not much less than mine, and for that price it will do the job!

you dont need any more than what I have (120psi) to blow your buggy off.

Ive had alot of bad luck with Harbor Freight tools, phenumatic and eletrical mostly. For what your wanting i would buy a 20 gallon tank and fill it up before you leave for the track. I used to airbrush with a 20 gallon tank and i was getting about 2 hours of spray time out of it.

Two of the guys at my track have this same one. One burned up after just a few months, the other seems to still be running. The problem is that it takes a looooooooooooooong time to pump back up, and with a small tank, it cycles a lot when blowing off your car.

I've got the 2 gal. Campbell Hausfeld (also from Harbor Freight). The first one lasted about 9 months, then I had to replace it because the motor burned up (glad I paid the $17 for the extended warranty). When this one dies, I'm going to either get a larger compressor, or a higher quality (Senco, Thomas, etc...).

Hey Cory, I bought that same one thinking it woud lbe great for the track but it's not, It will run out of useable air in about 45 seconds, If i had to do it over id get a different one..

With compressors the more important thing than PSI is the CFM (cubic feet per minute). The higher the CFM the better. If the CFM is too low, the compressor will kick in and take longer to refill the tank and run the tool at the same time. The compressor you are asking about only delivers 0.6 CFM @ 90psi. Way too low. Needless to say the price reflects performance.

I'm not a huge Sears fan, but their compressors are pretty reliable. I have the 2 gallon unit, and have ran the dog snot out of it for about 3 years and no problems. At sears you can get the protection agreement and it helps if anything goes wrong. I used to work there and it makes it easy to get a new one instead of getting it fixed....

Is this compressor just as bad? I found it for $40 + $5 shipping, so i thought i would ask. I'm thinking the tank is too small.

Ive burned 2 of them up just trying to airbrush with it. The first one took only 1 hour, the second one took about a week.

I just got the excact same compressor as you did last night. The one we have has a cfm rating of 2.4 @ 90 psi. The harbor freight one has .6 @ 90 psi.

cfm is the amount of air delivered (cubic feet per minute)

I paid 140$ for mine but i already love it.
