Default which one alpha red f850 vs werks 5b

just blew the botom end on my vspec (1.5 gallons), so i'm looking at these 2alpha red f850 vs werks 5b. i have a sirio 2013 pipe, re11 pipe , and extech 2042 (big boy) pipe. wich engine is better, smoothness of power delivery, longevity, run time, and all out top end. also wich pipe engine combinations are the best.

the F850 with the Aplus 0801 is a nasty combo! love it in a buggy!

the werks b5 with 2013 is also a very good combo..

both motors when tuned/drivin right can reach 10min run times in buggy

its up to you..

but alpha motors are hard runners.. my orange head alpha S852 has over 5 gallons now and still running as strong as day one!

I personally would go with the Alpha, great motors. Also look into parts prices on both also.

it seems the alpha parts are overpriced, i looked it up on ebay and a cank was like180 dolllars, when the engine is 200 bucks

My pick is the Werk's B5.... Italian build quality, great power, great runtime....

spend the extra 10 bucks and get an green Alpha and it will kill the werks, did it last weekend in my buggy, went around a werks B5 on the back straight at my local track . Alphas are crazy fast and good engines. love mine, getting more soon if you get an Alpha get the Alpha 0801 pipe.

here is a link for the engines if you dont have a place already: http://www.championrc.com/catalog/En...ories/Alpha-rc

he should be getting in a bunch of them in next week, but he does have green ones in stock now.

also most people are getting over 10 min with the green Alpha in a buggy.

I ran my werks b5 2013 combo today in my truggy and got 10 minutes every time. That's when I filled it. Pretty good for a truggy

Thumbs up

The B5 with the 2013 pipe it is a killer mill, had more than enoff on bottom and great top, running time? you can get 10+. Now Werks have the NEW B6 wich is smoother than the B5 on the bottom with better top end. And is been tested that you can get over 1 min. over the B5 with the same pipe, the B6 is made just for buggys according to Werks . And for the price you don't get better than that in a Italian mill. I'm know Ron will pitch in here soon, lol. Good Luck with your quest.

the green head is high speed engine and will get great fuel mileage. im running mine rich and getting 9+ min and it just broke in last weekend finally. the only thing is these engines run at 240-270. but they still make good smoke and all. they are easy as anything to break in too.

i want a smooth engine with great gas mileage, since i have a 2013 pipe already looks like i might be leaning towards the works, the b6 sounds good.

the green alpha is very smooth controllable power, easy to drive, but before you know it you'll be at the end of the straight, just put the power to the ground. not much wheel spin. but since you have the right pipe you might be better of with the B5
