and what are the shims, do I need those?
The 1.0 did not use shims......

But on the 2.0 is for you to get the gear mesh lined up correctly. Over time the mesh will come loose causing the gears to skip and possibly breaking the teeth on the gears inside the bulkhead

It doesn't if you put the grommets like you should, and set your endpoints properly. I ran an 8ight for a long time and had ONE throttle servo fail, due to it being a crappy servo. Not the car's fault... $35 servos don't last long on anything.

Well... I don't run Losi now... but I have a Hitec 7955TG servo and I crank it down so far it is nearly coil bound at rest. It depends on your servo.

NOTE: Unless they've corrected this issue... the 8ight 1.0 servo saver is more durable than the 2.0.

They have corrected, just brought one and they were different.

This is what TFT means, This is from A-Main website and this is the chassis in my buggy, Great chassis got in on E-bay for 40.00 shipped.

"The is the Team Losi Tuned Flex Technology (TFT) Chassis for the Team Losi 8ight competition buggy. This "TFT" chassis has been milled at exact points to give more flex to the chassis while not sacrificing chassis flex at the gear mesh. The Tuned Flex Technology offers greatly improved overall traction and stability on all track surfaces and has been vigorously tested worldwide by Losi drivers Adam Drake, Mike Truhe and Yannick Aigoin. The new 8IGHT TFT chassis has been used to win many races across the country and has been valued highly by the racing team to make the Team Losi Racing 8IGHT Buggy even easier to drive fast."
