I love my MBX6 but for starting out I would go with the Jammin. That is what I started with and it was awesome. Easy to drive and very forgiving. The Jammin is built like a tank. I crashed mine a 100 times before I broke the first part.

Why start from the back and move forward? Buy right, buy once. Get the MBX6. Done.

While it is true that the Jammin is very planted, and tough... it is somewhat "dated" by today's standards. That's a tough call because I really do think the Jammin is a great beginner car.

I have both cars and I would say go with the MBX6. I went from the X1 to the X1X(loved them) to the X2(hated it). I found that the X2 was very inconsistant for my driving style(heavy throttle finger) as the rear of the car is very loose. If I didn't have the front wheels pointed straight when I nailed the throttle it would loop. My MBX6 on the other hand is very consistant lap after lap and never bites me, even when I drive stupid. Car just goes where its pointed.

I probably have the best perspective on this. Since my first buggy was a mbx6.
and guess what??
it will be my last!!!
seriously though. There were 2 things that gave me the most trouble when starting out. Number 1 was engine tunning, number 2 was shiming and gear mesh. to get the diffs shimed properly have the pinion mesh properly, clutch, spure etc. The gears on the mugen are bulletproof. I made alot of mistakes and blew some bearings and blew some clutch bells but those gears just kept truckin.
And you can get parts for the mbx6 for cheap on ebay. But you won't have to replace much if any.
If you have a choice, it's a no brainer. Forget all that crap about being a beginner. BUY ONCE BUY RIGHT!

i have owned a Jammin X2 and i can tell you the X2 wears quick and a pain in the but to setup, it feels really loose, the X1 is alot better than the X2. IMO just buy the MBX6 and be done. but before you do look at the Hotbodies D8 buggy, its better than those 2 IMO but thats mainly driver preference.

All good choices but the MBX6 will out-wear the Jammin or the HB 3 to 1 and while local parts support is worth something you will be far less likely to need it with the Mugen. The Mugen is far lighter weight than the HB (don't know about the Jammin) and runs extremely well with economical, less powerful engines.

why either one of those if new to r/c 1/8th will be happier with a losi rtr or roller fast and stable mugen is good if you get the bce chassis and diff. mod. but thats alot of work for a newb to 1/8th if your not new sorry to affend you. have seen the x2 go fast but only in the hands of chad bradley
