but buy unused, as used ones are sometimes totally worn out

I had a few force engines years ago and always had problems keeping a tune along with not producing much power .Depending on what you are putting an engine in will help determine the best engine for you . I have the Axial .28 1S in my truggy and it rips and has more power and rpm then you will ever need .

or the Sportwerks .26 heck even the .21 I run that in my Mugen truggy and it flies and it was a $190 dollar motor.
EDIT:and the price on the .26 is about $120

I've got a Force .28, it came in my RTR Ofna buggy and I've put a little over a gallon through it and it's holding up just fine. It holds a tune pretty well and is fast as hell.
So far it hasn't given me any reason to say it's junk other than the pull start ripping right out of it. That doesn't bother me any...it only bothers the people who have to let me borrow their starter boxes

The Force motors are crap for the money.
You'll be much better off with the OFNA Hyper .21 or Picco/Jammin .21s in terms of a $100~150 motor. I would spend a little more and get the Go-Tech motor, though.
If you have a buggy, just get a .21. Buggies are designed for this size motor. A good .21 will outperform a .26~.30 in the same buggy. If you ever want to race it, you'll have a legal motor.
Don't get hung up on 'bigger is better'. When it comes to buggies, it isn't true.

I have a Force .28 and it's ok. I got pulled on the straight by a stock 8T RTR though. As for buggy engines, try the Jammin .21 or even the Picco .21 Evo. Or if you have the money, go with the OS VZB-Vspec.
