I mounted a set of AKA City Blocks with the AKA foams on AKA rims and CA glued them without adding the holes in the tires. What's the best solution for adding the holes now? How big should they be? I've used holes in the rims in the past and the foams get ruined too fast. Thanks for any advice.

I have used lexan scissors and cut a little v shape in the tire before when I forgot to punch holes in them before I mounted them. I have also used a dermal with a 1/8 inch round metal cutting bit and pulled the tire up from the foam and ground through the rubber. Just make sure you dont get into the foam.

When the holes are in the tires mud and water have a way to escape. If the holes are in the rims the dirt will stay in unbalancing the tires and ruining the foams.

I used the dremel tool with a 1/8 bit and use a low speed to start and increase it once the bit stops moving around. The high speed will cut a really nice hole. Don't use too much pressure so when it gets through the tire you dont tear up the foams.

I just heat up a nail with a torch and melt 2 holes in each tire. Don't have to worry about those holes tearing.

Melting it sounds like a good idea. These tires are spinning so fast any little tear ends up a big hole so I don't like cutting them. I usually don't do anything to the tires at all.

It can if your not careful.......I suggest the soldering iron if your forgot to do it but make sure to not to burn the foam.

I like the soldering iron idea, but I'm not going to use my good one. I can see that rubber creating an issue on the iron tip later on.

If I cut a small "v" using scissor/other, the possibility of tearing it wider is there versus a burned hole.
