first of all remember... at the end of the day this is all for fun! we arent getting paid to do this and its just a fun hobby so make sure you do just that and have fun.

now to get on to your question, i cant be 100% sure about your particular race that you are going to, but almost all of the time the way races work is the set up qualifying rounds and you are running with people in your own class (novice, sportsman, expert, ect). i qualifying the do what is called IFMAR starts most of the time, which means you are not racing the other cars on the track but you are racing the clock itself and however has the faster time in the race is the TQ (top qualifier) not necessarily who wins the race. most races usually have 2 if not 3 qualifying rounds. now unlike nascar EVERYONE qualifies for a main event. it just depends on which main you are in (a main, b main, c main, ect) sometimes at big races they will also do bump ups. for example they will put 10 people in the A main and take 2 bump ups from the b main (the 1st and 2nd place finishers in the b main) and those 2 people will then turn around and race again in the A main in the back of the field so there will actually have 12 in the A main.

i hope this info helps, any more questions just ask, but remember HAVE FUN

Got third place. Half a lap away from second place!

It was only sportsman and only five people but i am still pleased. Car ran perfect. It was alot of fun. I even won 10$

I got there right when the race was starting so my first qual did not go very well but the next 2 went great and the main was really cool.

there is a gap between sportsman and expert. Actually there is only sportsman and expert. the guy that got first in my class was a sponsored mugen driver so i was not going to beat him.

when i start getting first in sportsman i guess i will try to move up.
