When wiring up a starter box, in order to get the wheel to spin in the correct direction, will it do any any damage to the starter box motors if the polarity is changed? Ie. Switch positive and negative terminals around. It's a twin motor, 12V gel cell box.

What your doing is right it will just spin the motors in the opposite direction

Reversing the polarity will be fine. I don't see any reason why it would cause any damage at all to the motors, aside from maybe a little arcing because of any timing built into the motors?

Regardless, you're not going to kill your starter box motors (just as nitrojunkie said). So go right ahead.

There is a good chance that motor is not timed for max torque so it could run both ways the same. (kind of like a mabuchi motor)
