on a race engine, COULD running the low speed adjustment even just a pinch too lean cause the engine to run hot..??

have you tried to richen it up when it starts running hot? if so it could be a couple of things clutch dragging air leak you could start out richen the top about 1 full turn and drive it till it gets up to temp if it still over heats when you richen the top i would say check for air leaks.

lsn has the biggest effect on engine temps. pinch test never fails, clear out the motor on the box, after the motor drops to idle pinch the fuel line right before the carb with some needle nose and count to 4. if its still running when you hit 4 you are on the rich side, if it is dies before you hit 4 your on the lean side. if it dies right when you hit 4 you are dead on race tune, adjust the idle stop screw so the engine drops to idle about 10 seconds after clearing it out.

do the shake test... clear the car out shake it if it winds it lean if you hit the gas afterwords and it bogs it rich. just learned this one from edd bridges(ebmods) when he was helping me last race. think thats the right directions lol

an overly rich low end can cause overheating to. say what??? think about it. you have a rich low end and dont know it. so while tuning you exibit a bog at mid rpm, so you lean the top end to get rid of it. An overly rich bottom end can cause a tuner to make and overly lean top end. which would cause overheating.

on another very overlooked note a bad bearing in your drivetrain wheels diffs etc can also cause an overheat in your engine,also when you "clear"out your engine on the box it should not take 10 seconds to return to an idle
