I just ordered new receiver packs for my cars and I am trying to find out a couple things that are not coming up in searches.

1. How often do you have to balance them?

2. can you balance them with an external lipo balancer (charger set on LIFE)

3. I have seen conflicting stories about whether or not you can run a life battery down to low.

Can some of you guys with experience running these batteries please clear this up for me?

Hi.

You can run them down to where the servos starts to slow down. At that point you not even close to the minimum voltage (4 volt), where the LiFe packs can be destroyed.

I run one and love it. I can run 3 quals and a 30 min main no problem. Last time after a full day of racing, the voltage was 6.85 and it's only 1450mah. I have yet to balance mine because I get a charge error when I try. For what they cost, I don't care if that decreases the life a little. You'll be happy with it for sure.

okay so a 2 cell life pack is 6.6v right?

what voltage do they peak out at?

yes they are 2 cells 6.6V, mine peaks at 6.8

i think its agreat battery, its a 1700 hyperion, i do my setup(5-10)mintes, 3 qualifiers of 10 minutes + practice and a 45 minutes Amain and still has 30-40% in it. and i always charge it with the balancer, i dont know what's the balancer is for, i just do it , and yes you can use the Lipo balancer (2Cells)

Make using the right charging scheme. LiPo charge would be at a higher voltage 7.4 instead of 6.6

I have one the external lipo regulators that plugs into the charger through the normal banana plugs. The charger would be on life.

Where i can find a life rx battery and it will fit at kyosho radio box? also my charger write that charge lipo/life batteries but at the menu i see only lipo mode..i charge the battery at the lipo balance mode?

Hi.

Correct. Some more details:

LiPo cells: 3,7 volt/cell
Max charge voltage: 4,2 volt/cell

LiPoFe: 3,3 volt/cell
Max charge voltage: 3,6 volt/cell

If I remember correct the Cobra Racing pack are 6,4 volt. Don't know how to charge them.

I haven’t used my packs in a race yet (60 cm snow her in Denmark ) but I gave it some thoughts: For normal use (practice and qualification) I would charge them with the balancer every time. Before the main final the balancer shouldn’t be necessary for a short quick-charge.

too many questions

Kyosho packs are any HUMP style life battery: i use this one (Hyperion)

any battery with same dimensions should fit (its a tight fit though)

if your charger doesnt show life, you should see A123 when you search in the battery type. A123 and Life are the same.

charger should be on Life/A123 mode and the balancer is the same for lipo and life.

Losi LIfe Packs are sold by CobraRacing, he's in Australia but shipps worldwide, i'm ordering mine in few days.
