My cousin got a shockwave 1/10 scale rc for christmas. It used to start fine but now it is hard to pull and it dosent start. Can you help.

Only when the plug ignitor is in place it gets hard to pull?

Have you removed the glow plug and pulled the engine over?

It is really hard to tell from the movie, but it doesn't seem overly hard to pull to my eye.

Have you tried heating the engine with a blow dryer prior to starting it?

Are you doing all the basics to prime the motor? If not, pull off the air cleaner and put a finger over the exhaust and pull the pull starter until you see a light spray of fuel come out the carb.

Next pull off the glow plug and place it in the glow igniter and make sure it glows. If not, either the igniter needs a new battery or the plug is bad. Also keep in mind that the flywheel should turn VERY easily with the glow plug removed due to no compression. If it doesn't, you probably have a motor problem.

If none of these work, I would take it to the tech at your local hobby shop.

no we havent tried the blow dryer we will try it next. glow plug is fine and it is easy to pull with no glow plug

Remember, fuel is also lubrication for the engine once fuel is in there sometimes its easier to pull. And dry with the blow dryer

It shouldnt be but so easy to pull with no glow plug unless the engine has lost all its mechanical pinch, how old is the engine

sound's like the engine might be hydrolicing, pick the car up and tilt towards the exhaust stinger and see if fuel run's out of the pipe, if it does do this a couple times until the fuel is cleaned out then loosen the glow plug and crank the motor over several times without the ignitor on, then tighten the plug and try to start it

I would try a new glow plug it does not look hard to turn over per the video.

we figured it out, there was too much fuel in the lines so it always got flooded, and we didnt keep the glow plug on long enough

You kinda have to keep it there until its started..

And keep it on for a few seconds after starting if the engine is cold always help keeping it from stalling.

Sure it's easy to do with a pull start. You want the engine cleaned out prior to starting, then prime the line until you see the fuel just get into the cab, then it will fire right up with no flooding. Once you get the hang of it, your pull start will thank you. By the way that shockwave is pretty sweet looking. It's a 1/10 scale nitro 4wd buggy. Fun times....
