Funny noise
 

I cannot for the life of me figure out what is going on.

I have been playing around with my nitro car for a little while now and the thing is running great but it started making this noise that I can't seem to figure out what is making it.

The engine seems to be running fine.

The issue is this funny noise when I accelerate. It is almost like a high pitched whine when taking off (obviously it isn't the engine). It doesn't do it when you are slowing down and I can't seem to hear it when it is just going at a steady speed but when it is accelerating you can hear it. It is subtle and my friend that drives R/Cs a good bit heard it and he couldn't see anything wrong with it. But it is driving me nuts.

I know this is really a shot in the dark and it is hard to figure out what could be wrong just by my description but what are a few typical things that could make some funny noises on acceleration.

Check your gear mesh or for any broken tooth on the clutch bell.

Nothing looks broken from what I can tell.

clutch bearings??

Mine made a whinning noise right before the throttle servo blew.....

i know excactly what noise you are talking about. Your mesh between you bell/spur might be to tight or to loose. Your clutch bearing might be bad.

OR

your clutch shoes are slipping.

My guess would be your gear mesh. Check the mesh between you diff/pinion as well. You need a tick of play there also. And if not, will also give the same sound as a bad mesh between your bell/spur

and bad gear mesh is not good at all. Check it out man, or you could burn up you drive train.

then again you are saying it happens when you accelerate. That means to me that your springs are week and your shoes are slipping.

is your motor running hotter then normal?
