tire foam qustion

im not sure what type of foam to put in my tires,i am going to run a m3 proline holeshot, and caliber, should i use a soft foam or something else,i thought if u use and need a soft compond tire than use a soft foam.let me know thanks everyone.

You opened a big can of worms, foams are track and setup dependent.

there has to be a general rule,a starting point.

Stock foam will always work well.

Hard foam can give more forward bite and cornerspeed, but can be worse on rough tracks, or high traction, as it is less forgiving and can make the car flip over easier.

so u think the gray proline inserts are fine to start,or the ofna yellow which is a med. foam.

DONT use the grey Craptastic inserts...imo they are way way worst then a open cell standard foam(which i like very much so in certain conditions)

Yes the grey foam the tyres come with is fine. That foam won the last 2 world championships and European championships so if your car doesnt handle well, its not because of the foam.

To know the difference you can then mount your next set of tyres up with the EVO foam, or the new hard blue insert.

the grey's tear like no tomorrow....there's a reason they are being slowly discontinued.....worlds winner or Not....you think they actually deal with a torn Foam...LoL they toss the tire and slap on a new one.

The std. PL gray foams are a fine starting point.

Maybe I'm lucky; but they generally last the *best* useable life of the tread.

I've never had one break or tear; though the balance is pretty crappy. I still like the gray foams for most outdoor tracks unless you're on super blue groove.

The Ofna inserts are a little narrow (yes, the PL profile yellow Ofnas) so I'm not a huge fan of 'em, but they're ok.

The new PL black EVO foams will probably work fine all around as well. I liked the blue ones they just released; but have heard slightly better comments about the black ones.

the PL grey foam used to tear 3 years ago, and it happened to me twice. They dont tear anymore unless you get them wet.

i like the ofna yellow foams are the HB foams the best i have had the aka foams tear along with the pro line grey foams i havent tried the new blues one yet but i will stick with the ones that work for me just mt 2 cents.

How did you tear an AKA foam ? was there excessive glue on the inside ? was it a premount ?
