Buggy engine mount question
I'm not a new-b, but I'm scratchin' my head on this one! I just picked up a Hyper 8 Pro buggy with the Hobao engine mounts and decided to drop in an engine. As I put the engine onto the mounts to see how it lined up...I noticed the clutch bell was about 1/4" or more behind the spur gear! The engine mounts can move from side to side, but there is not any adjustments for front to rear movement. Am I totally missing something? The engine is from a Savage...the 4.1 (.25) and I also tried an OS 30 just for fitting purposes. Both engines have the same problem. Any insight from buggy racers/owners would be appreciated.

Thanks!
I thought about that, but wasn't sure. Can I just use a different flywheel collar? Would that move it out or just a new flywheel altogether with a matching collar? I appreciate the insight! :D

you can just shim the back side of the collet and bring the whole assembly forward....but from knowing how crappy the stock savage clutch's are is why i recommended you get a proper 1/8 bug/trug clutch set-up....you can use most any collet with any flywheel with A very Few exception's. |
Make sure you get a flywheel nut to match
the flywheel. That way the clutch springs will fit properly. |
