Did quite a bit of dremel work on the kit to get everything fitting and working smoothly actually.

thanks for the info. interesting indeed ... but what i see in this manual pg 13 downloaded from serpent website...

there are TWO shims there ... as circled in purple color above

so my hope-so solution is just let it be like that.. lets see after the 1st run.

the picture with the 2 shims is to show you that you can adjust the height by installing the shims in either position. The fact is, that only one shim is to be used, in either the high OR the low position.

at last
I found the solution for the servosaver assembly that locks up on assembly..
very simple really
first check if one of the screws isn't screwed in a bit square
than mount the 2 spindles with the ackerman onto the rods, but without
the bearing on top of the big spindle with the spring
now check which way the rod inthere is pointing under tension
and just take the assembly in the hands and twist it gently but firmly, the opposite way
the parts will settle and you will notice the rod in the big spindle gets centered
and bingo everything is turning extremely free

it's just the metal inserts in the ackermanplate are so precise, they don't tolerate
any misaligment

do not run just one shim.. it was designed to run 2. they were a little tight at first but after running the car couple time it wore in.

I mounted 2 shims at each knuckel too
one knuckel wasn't that free at first
but now after some fiddling around, they both flutter around freely
even without running yet..

ehhhhhhh wrong answer. run both shims. the trick is getting them both in the right place. i had to mess with it a few time but it came out smooth in the end. there is more bind from the shoulder bolts in the steering rack then anything else on the kit i built.

interesting eh... im about to say thanks for the info... no one ever mentioned that it is an option.

I do wanna say this, im not the 1st one to say the manual is totally [insert yer own curse word here] but I do believe the instruction is quite clear... 2 shims ... that is the fact.. from the manual [and it's the latest updated one]

Default Bearing problem

Anyone who had the 13x19x4 bearings to fail?

One of my bearings in the front diff failed after 2 liters of driving.
A friend of mine had all the bearings, both front and rear, to fail under race this weekend.

So is the bearings that follow the kit of a poor qualety or is it a shimming problem?

How tight / loose do you shim the diffs?

DUH!! Apologies for putting you wrong boys. That will teach me for reading the manual without my glasses on. The pic is not that clear at first.
I have been running my buggy with only the bottom shim and it handles suberbly, not to mention the steering is smooth as silk, but I will fit the other one today (after some more dremell work).
Chad - what is their purpose ? Is it to do with roll centre settings etc ?

Spindle in the high position for less steering...lower for more.
