Until then pick your poison and enjoy it as much as you can. I can make a list of all the new kits released by 8 different factories over the last two years and also a list of all the problems that each and every kit has had. Some if you are well aware of the fact that some kits after 2 years of upgrades and new designs still have major problems. This industry has been like this for awhile now. A large part of it also has to do with the fact that this is a business and factories make parts to break and wear out so we have to keep replacing them. There is a certain level of acceptable problems that won't stop us from buying product regardless of what issues it has. I challenge any of you to name one kit that is perfect and does not need some kind of tweeking or upgrades, or has week points.... No such thing!!

MUGEN MRX4-X Box stock, i dont remember mugen making ANY changes to kit, dont even need a hop-up :^),but thats onroad

but i will say serpent is second to none to handeling any issiues that arrive...100% happy i have this car, and plan on buying the truggy when released...

It was perfect to the point of extinction. Actually my first 8 scale buggy was the Hyper 7 kit and that was pretty awesome as well. Heavy as hell but it was fine as it was. Keep in mind that both of those kits were perfected over the years. Seems that after a few years when they finally get them perfect they get discontinued so we can start all over with new problems

For those that were looking at heat tape. This stuff from Kyosho is the bomb. I use it on all of my bodies and usually affix it to the tank near the header as well.

Heat Resistant Tape

Different. For a while there, it seems that XRAY had solved the exploding diff bearing problem, but it looks like the initial batch of '10 spec bulkheads have been problematic. Honestly, aside from that, the 808 seems fairly reliable.

Every new car goes through an initial period of "growing pains" and problems are usually addressed given enough time. I just think it blows that companies want to be able to charge top-dollar for their stuff AND have us be the QC guinea pigs too.

Couldn't agree more...some of the issues were obvious during first assembly...at least those could have been avoided and keep everyone happy!! I'm not talking about problems that might surface after a few gallons of runtime. Considering Serpents reputation they should have paid a bit more attention to the quality/fitting of parts...to have a solid package against a market of no less than 20+ 1/8th buggies.

Does any one know if there are any alternative airfilters one could use. It would be alot easier for me tto find a Mugen or Losi fillter if they would fit.

From looking at the kit parts, the serpent Filter looks almost identical to the Losi filter

Anyone know if the center diff spacing (from bolt to bolt under the chassis) is similar to the Losi, Mugen or Kyosho?

If you are looking for a skid plate, no luck. I compared it to all MFGs that DE makes, no match.
