Default v-spec carb issue

have a new v-spec. out of the box, the high speed needle was fluch and the lo speed screw head flush with the throttle arm. like this, after heating the block, of course, the engine would barely start and when it tried to do so, would spit tons of raw fuel from the pipe. so, screwed in the hi speed and backed it out 3 turns(like the manual sez is the baseline. like this, very hard to start(after heating the block once again). only way that it will even idle is to have the hi-speed needle about 1 turn out..((!!). what am i doing wrong...??

you may not be doing anything wrong..My V-spec came out of the box with severe air leaks. I could not even get it to idle unless it was half throttle. I would check it good ( including the case ) and seal it up good, and then do the spray test on the front bearing

On a new motor you need to have the carb slide open about 2 and a half millmeters. Your other 2 screws should be flush. Get it started should idle fast, adjust your low speed to get a good idle. Idle through that tank. Then start adjusting from there. When you have it right you should have a millimeter or less of space on your carb slide.

just a thought but when starting your motor its usually not done at WOT so you might want to lean your low speed needle & try like that.

As said above though I like to have my low needle righ & idle gap to match for the first few tanks on brand new engines so turning your idle screw in will achieve the same thing as leaning your low speed just to get a few tanks through.
