Need some assistance identifying this motor

I traded for this motor the guy said its a mugen ninja with a jp4 pipe.

upon getting the box today and getting it open (happy that i got an os based mugen motor) to my surprise it is a grp motor with a ninja head....

is this a real ninja or not?
everything is grp on the inside the onlything os is the p3 glow plug..

and the piston top and button head are pretty tore up... looks like either a fowled plug or a bearing let go.... as thats what one of my 3.3 motors looked like when it blew a rear bearing.

here is some pics...

can i know what grp motor this is?

the engine is toast anyways...look at the piston and head button, they are chewed up pretty badly..... The engine may still run, but its pretty much toast in my books....I hope you didn't pay too much for it..

did you arrange the trade here? maybe you can PM a moderator and see what if anything can be done. unlikely, but worth a shot.

at the very least the guy will get banned

the guys for sale thread is here.
http://www.rctech.net/forum/r-c-item...itro-sale.html

the jp4 pipe... is well not in as great condition as the pics show either..
then engine is very clean for (am estimated 2 gallons) i thought i might be able to get off replaceing the piston sleeve or repinch it..
but that pistion is toast as well as the button head.

Good luck finding parts. I'd say write it off, buy a new Ninja or whatever you want and never buy a used motor again.

Just a note, he didn't mislead you. Here is how he listed it:

NINJA MR21 BO1A WITH JP 4 PIPE

MR21 is a GRP Ninja.

OS Ninja is a JX .21.

i understand that...
i didnt do my research dont deal but he also didnt tell me the piston and head button are shit either...

nitrodog 12-02-2009 02:20 PM

Mugen use to use GRP for their Ninja engines...but they didn't have the GRP badge...They were badged as Ninja. The engine you bought looks like a Losi distributed GRP with an older Mugen Ninja head...this guy went out of his way to scam you.

The GRP ninja's are great engines...but that one does look beat up

Yes...but technically speaking...the BO1A was a GRP built for Ninja. The one he sold is a Losi GRP.

From the looks of it, the guy put together a hodge podge of useless engine parts.

smokinu 12-02-2009 02:26 PM

this is a grp ninja?
http://www.ninja-engine.com/content/...lang=0&engID=1

i have a grp 21 buggy engine with a ninja head...
that is confirmed!
