Default Change spur or pinion?

I have a quick question...I am topping out on the straight too soon and I need to change my gearing. What is the best way to do this...bigger pinion or smaller spur. I am currently running a Hyper ST with a 52 spur and I believe a 13 pinion. I think it will be hard to get the 14 in there and if I put the 50t on there I will be able to slightly move the motor closer to the centerline of the truggy. What do you guys think?
Thanks

What motor/ pipe? It may be a limitation of the engine that gearing cannot fix. I usually run the stock gearing in ALL buggies/truggies that I have run. Never saw the need to mess with gearing. If I was topping out halfway down the straight... I strap up the SPEED Horse...

changing spur gear is more granular. so it should help

52/13=4
50/13=3.85 so I would start with it
50/14=3.57 maybe too much. you have to try it

Default Good question....

If you were using a larger bell than I would say go down on the spur side, it's a smaller change anyway, but your bell is small, go to a 14tooth bell. It will work perfectly....

your gearing sounds really high to me/ I run a 14/48 It does good on big and small tracks.
