21-4C vs P5XLT
 

I was doing some research and am torn between these 2 motors for my buggy and truggy. I have driven the +4 in a truggy before and it felt nice, but I have also heard alot of good about the P5. I like a nice smooth power and the 053 felt nice on the +4 but I think it may be a little too much for buggy. Would the P5 be a little better or should I just order 2 of the +4's and use a different pipe. I am just not experienced with nova motors because I almost always have exclusively used OS but with their every steady price increases I would rather shy away from them.

The P5XLT will be a 'stronger' version of the 4 basically.

The standard +4 and P5XLT shared the same crankshaft (15009).

The 4C has a 'new'; but calmer 15007 crank. Slightly more torque, smoother feeling overall.

4C w/ 41021/9901 for buggy

P5XLT w/ 41021/9853 for truggy if you want something a little stronger in truggy it will have you covered.

If you're running a lighter truck, like the Losi, the 4C with a 9901 or 9853 will haul it just fine.

So what one of the engines has better top end and what one is better on mileage?

The 5 port design has more power from the port design . The 4 port has great mileage due to its port design and great power due to its crankwork .

The two engines share similar cranks but the plus 4 has the 15009T crank which has timing increases and smoothed fuel exit area .

The plus 4c has a crank that has all the 15009T work plus a larger opening in the throat of the crank , it went from 9.5mm to 10mm and is smoothed out . Plus4C crank is part#15007T


If you want a really badass 5port get a p5x/xs/xl/xlt. They are all the same and put a 15007T crankshaft in the engine , trust me you will not be disappointed at all

Would upgrading my P5 XLT crankshaft to the 15007T increase power as well as giving better fuel consumption???

Yes but at the price it is something not everybody will wanna do for sure

87.50$ for the 15007T cranks. And that's a very good price actually

I will switch the cranks out for 35$ if the engines are new . That is the cost difference in the cranks

I wish they would do the 'tuned' crank in the 5 and give it the newer carb body/needle setup from the 4's...

Yes I know, I'm just giving you a hard time. And it will be next year when I get it broke in, it's a Christmas present. Just now starting to get the 21-5k broke in even after your R2R service, this thing is TIGHT, Thank God for a Mugen starter box!!
