Default New Chassis

When is it time to switch out your chassis for a new one? Is there a measurement or something that can be done to determine if the chassis is worn out?
Thanks,
Brett

i usually wait till the rear of the chassis is getting thin, or if there is a crack, or the chassis is tweaked

Your supposed to measure it, but what I do is when I notice the screw heads are no longer flush with the chassis I know its worn down so I change it. I got about a year of running on my stock XRAY chassis, found a new one on ebay for $35. Skid plates on the bottom help allot

Run them till they crack which means it's too thin. If i had extra cash i would change more often just to keep it looking sharp but at almost $100.00 i wait til it breaks.

All kidding aside, I watch the front kickup section and the rear tail. When both wear beyond 1mm then start looking for something new.

By that time though, I usually would just sell the car and start over.

And it will take you at *least* two seasons for most cars to get to that point.

Depends on the track. During the truggy nats at the Nitro Pit we changed chassis mid way through the event. So literally two new chassis' that weekend.

Geez.

Most of our tracks are clay based and generally not that abrasive I guess.

I bought a used kyosho truggy from a guy here on rc tech, he said it had about a gallon or so on it and it looked pretty thin-then I realized he raced at the Nitro Pit.
On a side note my BCE chassis had over 10 gallons on it and was in a lot better shape than the stock K-car chassisM
Also its a good idea to strip the chassis bare and check that it is not warped or twisted in any way-doesn't usually happen but I have seen it.

+1 the DE skids are the shiznizzle-definately worth the coin!!
