Has anyone else noticed their ouchless hairbands melting off their carb when heating the engine up with a heat gun? I got tired of melting them off, so i made a guard out of thin cardboard to put in between the carb and block.

I guess it's just wierd how the bands melt so easily, at such a low temp. I'm not even pointing the gun at them!

GMK's "Carb O's" won't melt with heat or lose their tension from fuel exposure.

Dedinitly not for hot heads. LOL
Mine did the same thing. Regular ol rubber bands are the trick, but they too will melt with the heat.

i dont melt them but i dont use the heat gun on high either

i use a simple hangar9 heatgun on low setting and heat slowly up to temp .

what kind of heat gun are you using ?

The Harbor Freight $10 special. I always use the high setting so maybe that's the problem. I'll have to try the low setting. It's just weird how easily they bust with the heat gun.

dude! be careful with those harbor freight ones , they get really f'in hot , like 800° or something crazy . i would definitely suggest low setting and keepin the heat gun about 6" away .

Thanks for the heads up. I've only used it a few times, so i will start using it on the low setting 6" away.
