Default Bearing problem

I thought my front bearing in my vspec had a leak. So took the flywheel off and found the shield was cut. Looks like washer I had on it before the cone and the flywheel cut into it. Anyone ever had this happen?

Pretty sure if your going to use a shim/washer behind the collet you have to use a clutch shim type that isn't a bigger diameter than the collet. Those are what I've allways used.

Oh well, bearings are cheap. And you get to tear down the Vspec to clean the "Vspec Conrod Gremlins" off.

Washers are stamped and can end up with a bur or lip on one side if they are not sufficiently tumbled (de-burred). Personally I've always run the cowlet against the bearing without the use of a washer/spacer. I have seen bearing seals get chewed-up by a piece of sand/grit that got trapped behind the flywheel. Those lip seals aren't the most robust
