Fast cheap 1/8th buggy servo
 

The title says it all. I am on a tight budget and need a faster servo than the one i currently have. What do you recommend?

AE or Ace 1015. Its .10 and 200oz torque and under $100. Even cheaper is its little brother the 1313 its a little slower and less powerful but still enough for buggy steering.

I use a Hitech 645mg. It kicks ass and was $30.00

It may be a little slower (can you really see .1 sec?), and it's analog, but the torque is respectable and it <$40.00. Plus, it's got some of the strongest gearing out there. I've seen much more expensive servos break but mine keeps on going.

thanks for the replies. FYI, i run on a 6v receiver pack, and my rig weighs in at about 8.5lbs.

.1 is huge in servo speed. I say you can easily see the difference between a .10 and .20 servo.

this is what i currently run. It seems slower than it says it is. My price range will be around $50-$75. Any more ideas?

X2 .10-.20 is somewhat noticeable but there's one thing i say about cheap servo's, they yield cheap result's....if the servo let's go and pop's your Brand new motor or it take's off and smash's the front end to pieces....dont say we didn't tell you so....this hobby isn't exactly cheap..and you'll end up spending the 100$ either way buying 2-3 inferior servo's to coughing up the $$ and doin it right the first time.

i dont know about that one i run one 90 servo and a 60 servo and they are both dingal and i havnt had one break on me or burn up and they have prently of speed

It's like 75 dollars and has great gears and plenty of power and speed. Like 175 torque, and .14 speed. Perfect for buggy. And the customer service is great. I do run futaba brushless in my throttle just out of habbit, and it won't get beat up in throttle duty, but the steering servo takes a whoopin, and the ace is perfect for that due to the gears being more durable. Hitech servos just seem cheesy. I know I had one though and it was great in my rc10gt, but for 1/8th steering the cheaper hitech servos aren't so great.

you have a local hobby people in your area if so see if they still have any 94357 or 359 airtronics servos left if they do they will be on sale for cheap and they are good cheap servo otherwise just wait a little check net hobby people for sales on 7955 hitec servos they are getting the new 7950and 7940 so will be blowing out the 7955 stuff for cheap

yea i will admit that the cheap hitec dinigal servo on steering for a 1/8 is not fast enough at all but does have torque im using the servo for throttle now

Ace/AE servo's have Brass gear's......Hitec's are Titanium.....Hrmm which to choose which to choose. :lol:

i think i have decided on this servo. Anybody run it?

The Hitec 7985 is a nice buget buggy steering servo 173 torque at .13 its fast and powerful enough to get the job done. I just put 1 on steering duties on my Ve8. I usually go for the 5955 or 7955 but during this build was on a bit of a bujet and at stormer for like $73 or so I am happy with it. And I can feel the difference between the .2 in my nitro D8=5955 and my ve8 7985 I like the little more speed.

yea i have that 5645 and it does have good torque but it seems slow on my 1/8 nitro buggy for steering,i gone to use on my throttle and use my 9451 on my steering its faster and cordless and has 128 ozof torque that should be prently for the steering
