I just seeing how everyone else installs their flywheels and nuts?

I carry mine to church and assemble it while the others are bowing in prayer ... my engines always last longer when I assemble them during church. I am no longer allowed to bring my cell phone in, I got into an argument with one of my ex-wives over child support during a sermon and i got a little carried away with my choice of words. LOL I use a flywheel holder and a hudy 4 way tool and snug it just a grunt.

Shim the flywheel collet properly away from the bearing so the flywheel doesnt rub, use a piston stopper and use a torque wrench to proper torque

I use a flywheel wrench and a 1/4 ratchet with 10 mm socket to tighten nut.

I scream obsenities about my AE flywheel then chuck it through some dry wall.

Then while its dusty I clean all the horrid scatches off of it that I made with my "cutch shoe tool".

Then I polish the pins with turtle wax and a cotton dremel wheel. Then lube with Axe body spray and silicone.

Put a little sugar........i mean thread lock on the nut. (extremly little) and bolt it down with a 4 way glow plug wrench and an Ofna flywheel holder tool.

Then I take it apart and chuck the flywheel into drywall again because I forgot to install the correct shims behind the collet.

Scream obsenities some more and spray Axe in my eyes. Calm down by licking the tasty thread lock off my fingers.

What Shims do you guys use to shim you Collet a way for your bearing.

Same ones as by the front bearing. I use the AE shim pack.

I wrap the flywheel with a rag and hold it with some channel locks, then snug down the nut with a ratchet.

get a flywheel wrench its much easier.

Flywheel wrench and a 1/4 in. ratchet with a 10mm deep well socket. I use to use a piston stop but have heard a lot of bad stuff about them breaking pistons when people torque the crap out of them.

That Axe is going to get the best of you.I'm just saying...

Dont let the channel locks slip and there's no need for a flywheel tool...at least i dont use one.;)


X2 piston locking tools are asking for trouble....a zip tie in the exhaust port is a lot less susceptible to something going wrong and messing up the motor.

Novas new front bearings are 6.3mm wide so no need for shimming on most flywheels . For standard 3 shoe clutch setup use a flywheel locking tool such as ofna or hudy , tighten nut down with 10mm socket . If you must you can pull the carb off and stick a plastic dowel or end of tooth brush in crank opening .

For losi use a crescent wrench or other brand of adjustable , hold on to the outer square shaped aluminum ring that the clutch shoe pins thread into and tighten with a glow plug wrench or 5/16th socket . On losi flywheels you must use their collet !!!!
