I run a D21E - break in was tough as these motors are really tight. I run a JP-3 pipe on mine and really enjoying it. What model are you running, what are your needle settings, and are you running a turbo plug or standard plug (With the brass washer)? How many gallons, what temps, does it run fine and then die or blow the plug. I'm sure we can help, just need more information.

One, they aren't the greatest motors in the world. Flame away all you STS fans but it's the truth.
Two, blowing plugs usually means too much compression or worn parts. If the motor used to be fine but just now started blowing plugs after a fair amount of use, it probably needs a rod and maybe bearings as well. If it's new and always done it, add a head shim or run less nitro.

What is your head shimmed to? What nitro content are you running? That engine comes with a standard head button. So someone has changed it, and could have removed the shims. You should have 3 on there I have to check the thicknesses. It sounds like you have too much compression and or a stretched rod. First place, I would check is the head shims, take them off, clean them and mic them so you know how much clearance you have / or don't have 
I'm shimmed for 30 but run Byrons 25 - good stuff and has plenty of power.

I am on my second d21e. the first one lasted 6 1/2 gallons without changing anything in it (bearings conrod etc). being a 3 port i generally run these at a warmer temp (225-250). break in isnt the most fun with these but once you get past the 1/2 gallon mark they run like a scalded ape and do so without tuning difficulty. plugs last about a gallon with me.
oh i bounce between 20% and 30% nitro juice depending on if it is for club racing or a larger event. these engines also like the 053 pipe
