Shock lube

Shock fluid or diff fluid. As long as the treads on the shock shaft are wet and you thread it past the o-rings, you'll be fine. Never shove the shaft through the rings. Spin the shaft so it threads its way through.
I only use green slime on AE orings. Thats who made it, I think and it worked well on my AE cars.
Green slime eats up Mugen/Xray/Kyosho orings. They seem to sometimes absorb it and get squishey and large like my x-girl friend. So I just use shock fluid. One less item in my box.
Or maybe I had a bad run of rings or majik dirt.

Uh, shock fluid? I've never used anything besides shock fluid on any shock orings or cartridges and they always seem to last.

AE green slime is re-packaged Noleen SF-3 fork seal grease. It shouldn't effect any brand's o-rings, they're all silicone. Ironically, silicone oil does cause silicone o-rings to swell (soak one is some shock oil sometime). I've also had good luck with a seal grease packaged by Answer/Manitou (MTB suspension maker). You can get a 3oz tube of either for $6-7. It'll last you until magnet levitation suspension is perfected.

Silkolene RG2 used for shock seals and lots of other stuff like diff o rings etc etc etc comes in big tub and lasts for ever, why pay over the odds for a small tube of AE green slime when you can but MX or MTB stuff for far less and get lots more of it.
