Marcus Falconie 02-01-2010 08:33 AM

Wow I just got my rims in the mail and they are small. I put them up against my AKA and V2 rims and they are way smaller, I put them up against some 5 year old Mugen rims and they are that size, Bummer!!!

Yes, the VP-Pro wheels are a few mm smaller diameter then Losi/AKA/V2 wheels. VP wheels were release by VP Racing in 2006, but the VP-Pro tires are designed for them and fit them perfect. If you put VP-Pro tires on the larger wheels you have to streach them and the foam on, and it makes the tire flatter. I have not compared them to Mugen wheels but they are taller and wider and lighter then the old proline velocity wheels. I have not tried to mount proline or aka tires on VP wheels, but I would guess they would be a little to tall and big for them. VP-Pro tires are small/light weight/low profile tires. And the wheels are much lighter then losi/proline/aka wheels. And they fit my Losi 2.0 with no clearance problems.

I have heard that VP-Pro is working on an all new wheel - no details yet though but it should be V2 size - maybe even wider. The new Condor and Bull Dog tires are slightly larger then the 801-805's and will fit larger wheels better. Anyone here ever have a problem using the smaller diameter VP-Pro wheels on your buggy?

Machine's R/C H 02-02-2010 02:34 PM

Also, V3 tires will not fit VP-Pro wheels. But the wider VP-Pro tires do fit V2 wheels good.

heidmann1 02-02-2010 03:31 PM

Raced at the airtronics winter nationals this last weekend and My Axman and turbo traxx on ultra flexx were totally hooked up on my D8 buggy. on my D8t truggy I ran medium flexx turbo traxx and they were awesome as well. I have not had a tire hook up as good as my Vp Pro's at this track. It is very loose and dry and poeple are always struggling with finding a tire that will hook up out there. I had a few people come up and ask what tires I was running. and after a whole weekend of racing they still look great, hardly even worn.

the tamiya TRF801X has had clearance problems with AKA wheels in the front. I have had no problems with the VP Pro rims on my TRF801X, hyper 9, and z-car.

will vp pro usa be getting the newly announced touring car tires? We have been doing some touring car racing here since the weather has been a big problem for offroad

I have to agree....VP tires seem to hook good everywhere. From hard packed tracks to tracks that are loose and loomy, they always get good traction and show little wear!

VP-Pro USA will most likely carry the onroad tires as well when they are available.

Congrats to Dewey Harding for TQ'ing round 1 & 2 in buggy and round 1 of truggy at round 4 of the FSORS on VP-Pro tires. Axman in buggy and Turbo Trax in Truggy.

toobad4u 02-21-2010 12:39 PM

THANKS!!

Just wanted to stop in here and say thanks to VP PRO. They gave away some tools, tires, wings etc... at the BAMA JAMA yesterday. I won a set of Turbo Trax premounts in the drawing. I ended up giving them away to the father of a younger racer. The dad basically corner marshalled every qualifier, and all the mains for the whole day. 10 am to almost midnight, I am sure he is feeling the pain now though.

Just want to say it is great to have companies like this to help sponsor races and events that we enjoy.

Thanks,
Stephen

BTW, why did you choose to use a different size bearing for the clutchbells? Just kinda odd I thought.

13t-14t uses 5x10's

15t-17t uses 5x11's becasue larger bearings are stronger and last longer. The Losi bells use a 5x13 bearing in the rear and Revo bells use a 5x11 also.

Congrats to non-sponsored driver Dewey for taking 2nd place with Medium Flexx Turbo Trax in the A-main event. He has only been racing 1/8th scale for 1.5 years and has moved to the front of the class since using VP-Pro tires.

I also won the B and A-main in 1/8 Pro buggy with Medium Flexx Turbo Trax after 2 DNF's in Qualifying.

Good job Puddin!! That was a brutal track!!! Man I like blue shirts!:D

Dklst 02-25-2010 01:50 AM

Well I finally got to try out the new Condors on the buggy at Motorama this past weekend. They were hooked! I ran condors friday, cutoffs saturday and switched to turbotrax for sunday. All 3 tires were hooked all weekend. I ended up qualifying 9th in the Expert truggy A, 2nd in MT, 6th in E-buggy and 11th in buggy B main after a bad 3rd qualifier.

All together tho it was a good weekend. The tires worked well all weekend long.

Machine's R/C H 03-01-2010 02:00 PM

Great Job guys!

At round 3 of the FORCE Series, non-sponsored driver Brian Shook TQ'd Truggy with Turbo Trax and "Batman" won with Cutoffs. In buggy, I believe VP-Pro Condors TQ'd and won.
