ninja a compression

I had a vspec before my ninja. And when my vspec lost compression it was pretty dramatic. You could turn the flywheel by finger pretty easily once it broke in. Stayed like that for 5 gallons.

Could you expect the same out of a ninja since it's o.s. based? Got about a gallon and a half and it's loosing up quite a bit.

bump

jhipps835 09-13-2009 07:18 PM

I would say you should expect the same. But may last longer because it has the coated rod (I think).

I will get my Ninja in the mail tomorrow, so hopefull in 9 gallons, I'll let you know. 7 to 9 gallons are the norm on this engine, so I hear at my track.

coated crank and 5 port sleeve.

Ok well yea. Usually coated cranks last longer than the v spec. Thats why so many people upgrade them.

It has a coated crank and its one of the best motors ever made .I'm braking one in as we speak... sounds like its ready to rip just keep it clean and not crazy hot and it will be fun to drive....

From what I'm seeing on the ones I've worked on is they lose compression if they get hot. You can have it pinched and put a new rod in every few gallons and get way over 10 gallons.

I have over a gallon in it and it will barely get warm. Is it the 20% should i take a shim out?

jhipps835 09-13-2009 07:29 PM

Are you running it rich?

a little on the rich side. But not really. it runs ok. I have 1 silver and 1 copper. Should i take the copper one out with 20 percent?

jhipps835 09-13-2009 07:57 PM

Yea. I thought if you were running 20% it only requires one shim and if you were running 30% you need two. Try leaning it out. That will definitely get the temps up.

quicklosi 09-13-2009 08:07 PM

i have the ninja bo1a with the lightened head. got a little ever a gallon on it right now. no way i can turn the flywheel over by hand as it sits in the car. need it out to turn it over by being able to grab the flywheel this motor has MAD compression. after a gallon of fuel and starting to lean it out i am SCREAMING around the track getting a little over 9min on a tank and running temps right around 230. this is all in a Mugen MBX6 and i love it
BEST MOTOR I HAVE EVER OWNED

reggie l. 09-13-2009 08:08 PM

it all depends on how u treat the motors in general will determine if it will loose pinch or not...

quicklosi 09-13-2009 08:12 PM

hey reggie l... i see in your sig that you are running the ninja with the EB Mods head button. how do you like that combo? what is the noticeable differences?
