Default Bluebird servos - Are they crap?

I'm considering this Bluebird 821DMG+HS servo to replace the throttle on my 8ight-B 2.0 RTR.

Any comments?

Maybe I had bad luck, but I've used 3 of their servo's...

2 mid range ones used for throttle, both only lasted 1 race meet, died...

1 high end steering servo which I loved for a while, but after 5-6 meets it also died...
(none were the same model as you listed though)

I've had one Ace and one Futaba servo since with no sign of any problems...
I'm defiantly a beliver in buy 2 decent servos instead of 6 crap ones.... NOW
It really does work out cheaper in the end.

Havent looked into the ACE servos yet but I've seen the name frequently. I'll look into those as well.

I just need to be as efficient with money as I can an still get some decent upgrades. I will get good stuff where I need to for steering, tires, etc. But I need to try and scrimp where I can...

How much beating does the throttle take?

I have used them - The higher Torque metal gear ones. Bought Two, they lasted almost a season of indoor 1/10th scale offroad. They have two year warranty - so i sent them in for warranty and they replaced them in about a two week turnaround.

I have since switched to Hitec - Good servos, Good Warranty.

I would bite the bullet and spend a little money and get the following:

Throttle:
Hitec HS-7940TH

Steering:
Hitec HS-7950TH

Buy these and you won't need to buy another set for sometime. Fast, Strong , High Voltage(lipo receiver pack) and great warranty.

If you have too, save up your pennies and buy Hitec. You'll be glad you did.

Let's talk strictly throttle for a moment.

As far as hitec or ACE, what can I get away with for fast, digital, and 'enough' torque? Fast to me seems to be under .13 sec.

Those are awesome servos, I'm sure. But likely a bit overkill for my needs at the moment. I'm just beginning and don't even know if I will get good enough to hold my own on the track.

If/when I get good enough to be competative, those will be the ones to move up to.
