Default Club Points Systems

Is there a standard of club points systems?

Is so, what are they and how does each one work?

I don't think there is a standard as far as points go. Are local club uses this system that seems to work well:

TQ= 1 point

1st place= 100 points

2nd place= 99 points and so on.

I personally would like to see maybe something like this:

1st= 100

2nd= 97

3rd= 96

and so on...

Puts a little more emphasis on finishing first.

Our club starts at 10 and goes down from there. But we normally dotn have more than 10 per class either.

Why is your first place so high? Do you normally have 100 people out for race day in a single class?

I don't think that a system with awards the lowest points a winner would work very well in a club setting. Since not everyone shows up every week.

You could give points to everyone for every race and the lowest work work then. However for a cleaner standigns, I think it's easier to associate a high amount of points with a winner then a loser...

Thoughts?

isn't being "tq" a good thing? seems like every pointing system is giving it low points than everyone else? Shouldn't I be rewarded with more points if i'm a TQ rather than being penalized for it?

i think what there getting at is that the "tq" gets an extra point so basically if you "tq"and win your total is 101. and if you were to "tq" and finish 2nd you would get 1 point for "tq" and 99 for finishing 2nd with a total of 100.

no, but it makes it easy to keep track of

every successful points series ive seen uses the 100 point system for 1st, 99 for 2nd, and so on

with 1 point going to the TQ

if your series has lets say 8 races, then you should have at least 2 throw outs

We only have a small club 16-20 racers per meeting . We run for qualifying point and finals points
Qual tq 60 point 2nd 58.5 ,3rd 57 etc
Finals 1st 100points 2nd 96.5, 3rd 93 etc

few rules all a,b,c finals are same length ( 20min) so it is fair on ever one

at the end of the meeting ever persons finals results are pooled together to get the final overall place for the day and finals points are awarded on your results .
So if you do have a bad run at qualifying it is possible you could have a decent result in the finals and get some decent points back

Also drop 3 rounds in the year to allow people to have other commitments
or if you have no other life you can race every meeting and drop worst rounds
Link to how we have it setup
http://www.8thbuggy.net/docs/MADRRC%...ionship_09.pdf

I have it setup in Excel with Macros and it would take me less than 10 minutes to do

Our club points system works well.

first 10pts

second 8

third 6 and so on plus the TQ gets an extra 1

Then we have 30% throwouts for the year.
