I would definitly get the DX3S fr the extra price. I came from a DX2.0 to a DX3S and there is a big difference in the radios! Mostly the weight though, it is very light.

What's your budget? I had a DX3 and I didn't like the feel of it, felt like plastic and cheap (had a JR XS3 before it and it felt much better)

Definitly get the DX3S then. You get 2 receivers, and the 3S has a great feel to it (hand grip). My DX2.0 felt kind of numb in my hand, hard to explain but it didnt feel right. Also, the 3S uses 4AA's instead of 8 for the DX3.0. More model memory, and the big screen makes it easier to adjust alot of things.

I have the DX3.0 and I like it. It has all the features that I need and has not given me any problems. It can store 4 different modles and that enough for me. But what u have learned in the hobby is that you should always buy the best you can afford. You may no want all the features of the DX3S now but a year from now you might be thinking something else.

If you can afford the DX3S, go for it. The weight makes a big difference, and the hand grips between the DX3 and DX3S are night and day. The telemetry is a bit of a toy, and I find the extra cables kind of annoying to deal with. But, I love the feel of it.
