4pk reciever
Does anyone know if the futaba 604fs 4 channell reciever will handle lipo. I am thinking of converting but i don't want to fry a reciever. :confused::confused:

I could be be wrong, but I don't think it's the receiver that's sensitive to the voltage, but the servos.

Both Rx and servos are sensitive to batt voltage. That being said, my set up is...
MBX6/Apogee 2000MaH LiPo- NO! regulator/ 4PK-604FS/Ace 1015 servos. No problems whatsoever :D |
I know some racers running the 4pk unregulated without any problems either. Either way its a gamble. I choose to run no regulator myself, I went several months on my 3pk and never had any problems.

Is it worth risking expensive electronics like servos and receiver by not putting in a $20 regulator though?

What I want to know is since the servo makers are jumping on making servos to withstand unregulated lipo, why arent the radio manufactures following suit with their receivers?
What's the point of the new servos if you're still risking blowing your RX which costs just as much as a high end servo |

have had on problems and at one race it was 113 in the shade so what would be the advantage of going unregulated if any? :confused: I have gone as far as to get spare 604fs rx and 7955,7965 servos just in case I burned the first set up trying to go unregulated but just can't bring my self to do it |
Normally the receivers and servos require about 6 - 6.5V. There are those high voltage servos that running at 8V, but these are exceptions (servos for higher torque and faster speed). If you use lipo, one cell of lipo has 3.7V. So you need 2 cells (7.4V, 2 cells in series) and a regulator to clamp the voltage down to 6V. If you don't want to use regulator, you can use LiFe (lithium Iron) battery. They have output of 6.4V, which is perfect for normal receivers and servos. :smile:

Officially it is not recommended for the 4PK, unofficially yes it can be ran.

What's the point of the new servos if you're still risking blowing your RX which costs just as much as a high end servo Specktrum, KO, and Hitec are all HV if you buy the right models. I'm running a Hitec Synth RX and Hitec 7955 servos. I need a new radio. I'll soon be running a fresh Spectrum or KO TX soon. If its not Hv, I'm not touching it. |

4pk reciever
This is the question if I run high voltage servos that handle 7.4 volts . If i run a 7.4 lipo reciever battery with a regulater which nocks it down to 6.0 volt. Why run a servo that can handle 7.4?? If you run a regulator you are getting 6 volts , so unless you run Unregulated than the servo will never see 7.4 and get the torque and speed of the high voltage servo will deliever.If this is some what correct what is the point of the high voltage servos. :confused:
