Losi 8ight 2.0 brakes problem

Hi guys,
I have just got myself a 2.0 RTR. After my first race meet with it, I cleaned it up like the same way I used to clean up my old buggy. I then sprayed the chassis down with WD40 once I finished, and it got on the brakes:cry:. Is there anything I can do to remove the residue, as the brakes hardly work at all now, or is it time already to replace brake components. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Easy fix, Clean the disks with denatured alcohol, Carb cleaner or some type of cleaner to remove the WD40.

Disassemble brakes clean pads with simple green. depending and how badly you soaked break disk. You can take some fine sand paper 1000 grit and sand them down past the oil. I've done it before no worries.

I use simple green then a red scuff pad after every race. 1000grit might be pretty smooth. i have been told to use 600 and have a couple times. il have to try 1000 sometime...

just use fine sandpaper and you just need to get the oil
off

I use 350 grit on my pads and calipers, it works good. I agree, 1000 would be really smooth, mabey to smooth.

Not as smooth as you think when you buy new disk. Now thats when they are at there smoothest. 1000 grit gets them back to condition close to that. the main reason not to use low # grit. Is you can take off to much. You can always take off more but you can never put more on.

you can buy new one's tho.

Since the car is new have any adjustments been made to the thumbscrews. The pads and rotors might be fully seated in now. Maybe a small adjustment is in order after cleaing the WD-40 off.

I'd just squirt um with non-clorinated brake clean.

Do you do this everytime before you race?

I was at a race a month ago and I forgot to clean off the wd-40 from my brakes. I sprayed some Losi NitroTec on them and they were alot better!!!
