Novarossi Plus 21-5K HELP
 

I have a Nova and it runs strong and clears everything but for the last 2 weekends in a row everytime i pit it flames out, either on pit road or right after leaving. My pitman has even been leaving a glow start on during fill up but it just doesn't run on pit road.
Less than 2 gallons, 2nd or 3rd plug (Nova).
It runs great everywhere on the track except pit road, any ideas ?

What Temperature are you running, the nitro percentage of your fuel and what nova plug? I run 25% nitro and use a Mc8 plug in my 5k with out any
problems. Sounds like you're alittle rich on the bottom lean the lsn or try a
hotter plug.

It's had only 20% and i think i'm on my second Nova plug #4 maybe

Are you leaving your fuel bottle in the shade? Filling up cold fuel into a hot motor seems to cause this because of the rush of fuel into the carb. You can also run a empty fuel filter on the exhaust side to help equalize the fuel pressure.

Yes my fuel is kept in the shade, but your the second one to recommend the fuel filter on the pressure line thanks.:tire::):):tire:

Try a McCoy MC8 glow plug.

Run odonell plugs use the odo #100, theses plugs last a long time and tune vary easy and they are cheap.

Also tell your pit man when he fills thank not to let the tank lid slam down,this will force more fuel in the carb and flood you out.

How long is your fuel line? My Engine guy (Monty Houston) says to run 8 inches of supply and pressure line. It absorbs the shock of the fuel lid slamming down.

I run the same engine in my buggy, run a Novarossi "Standard" #5 Ultra Glow Plug (Hot) - sorry but Mccoys are not high end plugs. it also sounds like your running fat on bottom and used your idle screw to bring up the idle.

What I would do is go back to factory settings - follow the tuning bible and you will be fine

I dont think fuel is the problwm, whether its in the shade or not. the engines like the cool nitro - that a part of the reason the we all use 30%

I usually use 99's but i bought Nova 4's being it's a Nova

Fuel line and pressure are whatever came stock on the newest 8ight 2.0 (it comes with the nifty tank lid handle)

This is true i'm running a higher idle.

I Have four Novarossi engines, love their engines but hate the plugs. McCoy 8
or an Odonnell #77 or #100 the #99 is too cold for 20% fuel trust me.

If you have to use Mccoys- use the 59s, But mccoy plugs are not hig end plugs . Nova plugs are 200 percent better than mccoys, I love nova engines and plugs........

use an inline fuel filter (even on your losi) , 8" of pressure return line , 7mm carb restrictor , odonnell #77 , sounds like you are really rich on the low speed and have just been leaning the high speed out since you broke the engine in ? , reset the carb , pull the slide barrel out screw the low needle in all the way and back out 3.75 turns , set the idle at about 1mm open or just a little less , hsn just in from flush with the brass housing .


i didn't notice what pipe you are running but it will run (terrible) with any pipe , just runs better with certain ones (ofna 063)
