Off Road Track

I built an off road track 4 years ago. We have a club Trackseekers in Flowood, Ms. We just completed an Oval (dirt) track. We are hosting an RC Pro Series Race in August. Our track is Pro Level and nothing else for two hundred miles compares to our track and lay out. Very Technical. It is built from red clay and when it rains the sand (fluff) comes to the top. Wetting it helps, but I want to know what chemicals or anything that we can add to the track to make it like the Nationals Track. Two of our members are at the Nationals and say it is unreal. The track has held its shape through out the races and is perfect for traction all the time. Can anyone help me. Thanks

I own a track too. I would like to know about this treatment. My track is black dirt (like gardening clay). After use the used lines compact but a lot of sandy on the corners edge. I watering before use and this help with the dust. Please help for the way to compact the dirt.

sugar... but the critters will come!

Someone previously mentioned some sort of sugarlike substance (a syrup of some kind?) that wasn't as bad about attracting insects.

And another mentioned using (they said root beer, but probably any non-diet soda) syrup like is used in fountain drink machines.

calcium chloride added to the water that is pumped on the track does good, i have heard powdered laundry detergent (tide) being used as a substitute. our track (100x140) needed 3 50# bags to treat it. not all at once though

Edit, this wont help with runoff that much though.

for on road courses the syrup does well. generic orange soda seemed to work the best for this, just put a small hole in the lid and shake it to spray. generic cos it is the same as something like orange crush but costs alot less

I priced some of the dust control like this. The cost is way too much for me.

You really dont need that much, and it a lot cheaper than salt, sugar or any other urban myth.
Its worth it
