I use a gel cell gives you all the power needed and I only have to charge the thing once a month about Lipos are great in many applications but i dont think a starter box is one of thembut many use them

A 4s lipo is the only way to go. I use a losi 2200 4s and it lasts and lasts and lasts. It could prob go 4 race weekends with no prob but I charge it every other time anyway. There is no question the lipo is the way to go.

lipo are not good to run in a starter box they way to much
power for the little motors to Handel not to mention the
wires so it turns your motor over way to fast and you can't
charge them as much and they don't have the weight to keep
your starter box from jumping around lipos are bad

My friend converted his starter boxes to LiPo. The damn things sound like a dentist's drill when they spin.
I pit for him at our local track, and I've never seen a starter box fire up an engine so quickly and easily. So much better torque and speed coming from the starter motor due to the LiPo pack.
Oh, and +1 on the insane weight savings. First time I picked it up, I almost heaved it across the pits thinking it would be heavier.
