Sand in tires
 

I don't seem to wear out my tires, they only get packed with sand so they get really heavy and out of balance. Thus I stop using them. Boiling/de-bonding and re-gluing tires is really not my thing, I hate it!

Preglued tires usually have holes in the rims, do you guys cover these or do you just live with heavy tires till they get worn out?

you need plug those hole in the rim and then use sum rubber snipper and carefully cut out two hole in the actual tire

That's what i did with my monstertruck tires in the old days to get rid of water.
Will this work/make my heavy tires better/lighter or is this a prep for my future tires?

Cover the holes in the rims with a small piece of electrical tape. Punch 2 holes in the tire 180 degrees apart with an adjustable leather punch. This obviously only works with unmounted tires. Most good premounts(IMO AKA's are the only good ones) come with holes in the tires already. Best bet is to buy unmounted tires and glue them yourself.:nod:

My tire gluing is not compatible to racing of any sort.... It's just sad. I really can't afford any more pratice :rolleyes:

Must be nice not to wear out tires, I go through at least 3-4 sets a month.

Hmmm I am jelous. That means you get to race much more than I do. I am using AKA tires though. So far I can easily get 3 to 4 races out of my I-Beams.

Here is the pair I've been using the last couple of years. I only use the largest bit for RC tires and the other bits for after Holiday Meals with the family. LOL.

I must have found them on sale locally cause I only paid $12 USD.

You can cut holes in already-mounted tires using a pair of small side cutters or lexan scissors. Just gather up the center a little with your fingers and make two cuts. Works great, and the sand will come out of your tire the first time you drive on them afterwards.

Leather punch pliers will do the same thing. Pinch the center of the tread folding ot & punch half a circle,when you let go of the tire it will make a full circle. Every time I forgot to punch before I would burn a hole in the tire with a dremmel bit.Took years of that till it dawned on me the punch pliers would still work:lol:

BTY I just saw the same pliers I have in the $5 bin by the checkout stand at tru-value last week,I got mine out of the $10 bin a few years ago.
