But I've had the one that comes with it go bad (Crack) and it's replacement will only run 'til just below the seam, then go lean and die no matter how many times I change out the fuel line...nothing but bubbles and even plugging the exhaust will not prime the carb.

This happening one week from each other and with the car only a month and a half old.

I don't see others running other brands having this issue. I"ve been an "associated guy" for as long as I've run RC. Which is why I bought this car against recomendations of those that I compete with.

I"m frustrated and not sure what my next step (beyond calling Associated) should be.

I made a vow to myself that if crap like this happened, I'd just convert it to electric, but I didn't expect or want it to happen this soon.

OH...any ideas? Mods?

...and another thing. Why so much fuel line and who decided the silly routing?

Just call AE. My co-worker used to run the RC8 and the tank in his car was broken in the box and so were the new ones he ordered. He just called up AE and they sent him a couple new tanks. Never had a problem after that.

Sorry to hear your having trouble . . . I've had the white tank on 2 different cars now with no issue's since the material change. I would contact AE and express your problem, there customer service is great!

The third generation tanks have been very good from what I've experienced and heard. It's possible you have the second generation tanks. Call Don at AE and let him know what's going on so he can get you fixed up.

For the fuel routing, get a set of fuel line clips from the truggy, part number 89325. Drill a hole in the side of the tank on top so you can mount the clip, then run the fuel line through there to keep it from bouncing around. Check out this pic and look at where Cavalieri mounts his fuel filter. The clip should go in the same place.

I Have the Rc8 buggy(1st edition),which came out with the smokey grey tank,after a period of use, the lid was not sealing properly,splashing fuel out of lid,making a mess,then found out I couldnt get replacement seal,had to get new tank..this milky white one turned up,only to discover while in packet,one leg of the lid spring, had collapsed a top portion of tank, this tank was sent back, but I swaped lids, to stop my leak on original tank,which was o.k. with my supplier..upon recieving a 2nd(white)tank, I put aside in a box under workbench, till one day I was looking for something else, took (2nd) tank outa box, only to notice that the lid spring retaining pin, had pulled itself straight out the top of plastic(while in bag)..this tank was also sent back, and has since been replaced again, and stored away again..fingers crossed this time..why?didnt AE continue with the smokey grey ones??

'cause those smokey grey ones also had probs with leaky internal fuel pickups.
Not all, but a lot of them. I was lucky enough to run a first gen tank a whole season without any trouble, though. It's still in my box as a tried an tru replacement if I should need it sometime.

I've seen a guy running an AE mount a Jammin tank... just a thought. Don't get discouraged, overall the AE is a great car.

Got off the phone with Associated a couple of minutes ago and yes, once I described the age and problem, they're sending me tanks to replace my bad ones.

I hope this ends the end of my Honeymoon with her and the real marriage can now commence...

I'll take a look at the smug mug pic once I get to my laptop. That site is not friendly with my smartphone.

I wouldn't drill a hole through the tank... just scuff it a little with the dremel and CA the fuel line clip to it.

You've had enough holes (cracks) in your tanks lately, right?

The hole being drilled is in the "shark fin" on the tank. It's the solid splash shield next to the lid.
