Default new to nitro car help please

Hi all

Just bought new hpi mt2 g3.0 for my son, however I,m having problem getting it running correctly. I have read all the advise and listened to people in the know and all seem to have a different thing to say. I decided to follow manufacturers instructions to the letter in the end.
I have run a tank of fuel through whilst of ground, no problems. I then ran a tank of fuel going round in circles at half throttle, no problems. Then on the third tank I get half way down and it stopped. I can start the car and it will run for a while then stop, also when I have managed to get the car running I noticed that it cuts out when brake is applied. Am I correct in thinking that with throttle trim set to neutral, all radio gear on with full brake applied that there should be a gap of one millimetre in carb port. If not I sould adjust idle screw clockwise to open gap, anticlockwise to close gap. Any advise would be appreciated as things are getting frustrating now. I feel like I am quite out of touch with nitro these days, the last time I used nitro was in 93 with plane and it didn't seem quite so complicated then.

Your idle should be about 1mm even with brakes fully applied. You may have also just killed your glow plug. Break in of engines at super rich settings have a tendency to kill the plug
nothing to see here................................
