revo 3.3 motor temps

i live in Georgia where its mostly hot and humid, i was running my truck and when i checked the temp it said 300, i run my motor rich but it usually run cool when im driving it on paved roads temp between 170 and 210 but when i take it in short grass or dirt the temp jumps up from 200 to 260 and highest it got was 300, am i doing anything wrong,

As long as you are seeing a good smoke trail, and it's performing well, I wouldn't worry too much about temps. I would check for air leaks if it gets any hotter though, check your fuel tank lid and you pinch bolt on your carb, that's the most common places...

Where in GA do you live?

Grass puts ALOT of strain on the engine thus giving you higher engnie temps.

My revo loved to run about 250 -275, pending on how hot it was out. I would tune it by sound, smoke ,performance and it would fall within that range.

i live in macon GA, i was wondering bout the temps, i have a good train of smoke and the motor dies 3 or 4 secs after i pinch the fuel line...its a new motor and i didnt want to mess it up by running it too hott, i run it kinda rich to stay on the safe side.......another question what is the average life span of a properly run motor

Chris__RC 07-04-2009 06:57 PM

About 8-12 gallons.

Rite around there, one guy i know put about 14 gallons on his 3.3 and ran it a little leaner to point it would ping. I usually get about 3-5 gallons on my 3.3 motors, because i run the heck out of motors. Its not due to the lack of knowledge but just how i run them knowing it shortens the life span of the motor and produce enormous amount of power.
