Default Why do Associated's Big-Bore RC8 shocks cost so much?

It's shocking. No pun intended. But come on...they're going for $120 a set on eBay. Why do they cost so much compared to "Big Bore" shocks from Hot Bodies and Ofna?

I know there was a trade-up period for people who bought FT RC8's awhile back, but that's obviously done.

Is anyone using the Hot Bodies or Ofna big bores on their RC8?

if you think that is bad $120 for a set of shocks go buy
some Hudy tools at $20 each and the end caps are sold

Cool Price of AE Bigbore shocks

Hi cary, I run the RC8 Buggy(1st edition) and recently got a price on the bigbores, here in Aust, and made sure I was sitting down($102) a pair, had a look on Amain hobbies($55-57us) a pair, without springs, may be a little cheaper, or same once I add exchange rate etc..but I have lined up a pair of rears, from a mate at our r/c club, for $65 with springs....Bargain...

Yeah, the 16mm big bore shocks are what I am referring to. Ridiculous, especially since they're made in China.

I was just looking at that on the A Main website. The AE shocks are $55.99 a pair. The X Ray shocks are $55.99 a pair. The Hot Bodies shocks are $57.99 a pair. The AE's don't come with springs but the X Ray and the HB do. That's an extra couple of buck. They're not out of line with anyone elses shocks out there, except maybe the springs.

Ah, gotcha. On eBay, HB Big Bore's went for $50-60 a set. Conversely, AE's went for $126 a set.

Looking at the shocks, they both come with 4mm shafts. Could you simply swap out the bodies and pistons and essentially have big bores?

I doubt you could do it with the HB shocks. They are fairly short. The AE shocks are longer than any one elses. Guys have been running the Ofna/Jammin big bores on the RC8. Just have to change the shock ends to the long ones I believe.
