Outerwears prefilter alternatives?
 

Is there anything that works besides Outerwears brand of prefilters? I've used them in the past, but have found that [for me] they're too expensive to continue to purchase at $18.00 USD per prefilter. If you know of any affordable solutions, please reply to this post.

Note: I run a 1/8th scale cen matrix off-road truggy & I run kyosho high grade two stage filters. I like the idea of the Outerwears prefilters b/c they increase the run-time between changes. Filters, pre-filters and outer filters have to be changed frequently, so I'm searching for something that costs less. I remember seeing an affordable alternative online, but I can't find it this morning (?)

I use Filter Covers, they work pretty good. And quite a bit cheaper.

I use filter covers too, They last all day and the pre filter and filter inside do to.
Not much dust at all on the filters after a race day, then just wash\dry and reuse them. You are washing out your Outerwears and reusing them ?

thank you so much for the replies. i just wish they weren't yellow in color. appears that the yellow one's are the only one's that fit round two stage filters. also, i'd prefer to buy them from from somewhere other than ebay. nonetheless, i guess i'll see what's up them.

ofnajoe... i believe you ask'd if i wash them. yes, i wash the filter covers and re-use them. i also take the draw-string out of them and use rubberbands to secure them instead.

I use a product called VetWrap

It's self adhesive bandages that will keep your filter from getting clogged by the bigger particles of dirt. Very breathable and comes in a variety of colours

I use Blue. After a full days racing the filter is still it's normal yellow Not brown. Very cool stuff. And Cheap. a roll of 25meters of it is like $3 at petsmart or your local pet supply store

this is there main site on e-bay and they have several colors of filter covers. i know you said you would like to use someone other than e-bay, but theses are great covers and they ship fast. i would recomend them.

Buy the vet wrap. Im a paramedic and get it at work. The only thing is its brown instead of the cool colors the vet wrap comes in. Cant complain though, its free and easy. When its dirty just apply some new and good to go.

I went the Vetwrap route... no [draw] strings attached. It seals with a pinch... gotta' love that. Thank you so much everyone.

Note: I went to the track yesterday. Be advised that you should not Vetwrap the entire filter head as pictured. Just wrap the foam part. Leave the end caps free and open, so that the engine can breathe.
