Futaba Brushless Servos
I have been running a pair of futaba brushless servos in my 1/8 scale losi 2.0 buggy, and all has been fine (have been running them since silverstate) Normal once a week race use, and now my steering servo has the "jitters"(shakes back and forth really fast for no reason) Has anyone else had this problem, I have seen it with other cars and servos, They say its normal, but this is the first time I've ever seen this with any of my servos. I run a bls351 on steering, and a 451 on throttle.

most the time it means the fets or going bad but there by far the best servos out i have 12 of them and love them

Just rock the servo horn. If it has quite some play, you need gears.

this is kinda OT but can the futaba bls351 and 451 handle lipo 2s without a regulator?

thanks for the reply porkchop... i think 2s lipo is 8.4. im really tempted to try it without a regulator but im afraid it might burn out the servos and receiver...
|
I don't think its a good idea. They aren't rated for it anyway. Most likely will kill them quickly IMO.

i got them also and love them!

this regulator will give u the most power out of your servos running lipo most 7.4V pac lipos are 8.4V a peak charge thats why its unsafe to use on your gear unregulated http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...or-with-Switch

AHH so the futaba's have the JR jitters hehehe
All my JR 9100 servos did that too. I had another racer tell me it was the JR jitters. |
sounds like it might be the plastic gear wearing out, that steering servo takes a beating, I'll see if I can trouble shoot it and get back with you guys, Maybe the'll cover it under warranty.

If its under warranty still, I'd send it in just because it would be a free fix.
I had a 9351 on steering for 2 years and it had the problem you speak of, It ended up being a metal gear that had 2 teeth missing. It wasn't that bad driving the car to be honest. I noticed it only in the neutral position. I figured it was just 'slop' over two years worth of time. Who knows how long it would have stayed working in that 'good enough' state. Now the BLS351 is on steering and that repaired 9351 is on throttle/brake. So far my BLS351 hasn't had any slop develop yet. |
My 9351 developed the shakes after a year on truggy steering. It turned out to be the main gear had worn down a couple of teeth at center. Replaced that gear and all was well.
