Cool nitro rc wont reach full speed and shuts off when fully braked

Well im new to nitro rc. and first, my truck wont reach full speed. I tried leaning it but i don't see any performance difference but it accelerates fine. And 2nd when i brake my engine slows drastically down and sometimes it shuts off.

It sounds like your idle gap is to small and when you hit the brakes it is closing.

You are going to need to backup all the way to your Idle gap with no linkage attached. Get it set close, < 1mm when fully closed.

Make sure Throttle servo horn is centered.
Set brake and throttle EPA to Zero on the radio. Add linkage back and make linkage adjustments.
Pay attention to the EPA a little higher than what it takes to fully open the carb.

Get this all good and then worry about tunning.

Re-turn and you should be gold.

Dont you mean a little less then what it takes to fully open the carb? higher would mean its pulling on the carb further then it can move.

he means, look into the carb, when your throttle pulls the slide all the way past the opening..add 1 or 2 more clicks on your radio, and stop..There is lots of extra room after fully opened, you dont want to pull the slide all the way to its max

It sounds like it's just your idle screw, open it up just a wee bit and try running and braking. Make sure to make very small adjustments and you might want to set it back to factory settings and lean it out again.
Good Luck
