Nuclear RC and the right car.

Slash is pretty much a spec class and they arent likely going to let you enter that class with a nitro.
They had a few Slash racers there last time I was there but they seemed lost on that big track but there is nothing you could get in the same price range that would be comparable.
I really recommend going out there this weekend for their ROAR race and talking to their club members. You can get a better feel for the club what their about and what they expect and like I said you may stumble into a deal.

We (at Nuclear-RC's track) do still have "house" transponders you can use, so you don't "have" to buy one of you own right away.
As for the vehicle, I can tell ya that MT is declining - on a low attendance day , we still a good class (7-10 ) of 1/8 buggy and usually 2 heats (more than a dozen) of truggy, but sometimes only 3 or 4 MT.
This is actually my fist year running 1/8th Buggy (was allways an MT guy before) and even with a fair amount of RC experience, I didn't want to spend too much on something unfamiliar, so I decided to go with a good old used Kyosho buggy to keep he cost down. Using some stuff (like exhaust) that I allready had, I got a used starter box cheap and the whole buggy with extras of everything, bought an assortment of new wheels / tires and got all set to race for right around $500. Good, in a way, but I could have spent a little more and gotten something new.....And that doesn't really deal with the situation of a "new" racer who needs tools / support equipment....
Whatever you decide, good luck and SEE YA at the track!
