Pipe Cleaning
What's the best way to clean both the outside AND inside of a fairly dirty tuned pipe? Mine has some mileage on it, and I've been neglecting it lately. Time to get it back in tip-top shape! Thanks for your suggestions!

if it is not anodized you can use oven cleaner then polish with semi-chrome.

Easy-off oven cleaner on a peice of cardboard in the driveway. Spray it allover inside & out. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Hose it off. Wear rubber gloves.

+1 The easiest way, have not used WD40. Use straight Antifreeze, no 50/50 mix, it'll clean and loosen inside and out. Depending on how built up it is internally will depend on how long you need to let it cook off. You can get a cheap crockpot at Walmart large enough for 2 for around $15.00

well story goes I was wd40'n some bearings then some plastic parts and I thought hey... why not try dump'n my header inside and see what will happen...
well to my suprise I pulled the header out and it was back to the polished ali look on the inside, rather than that gray oily look from running rich and gathering deposits.
But yes 110% anti-freeze will work like no joke. Go straight up and let it simmer for a few. When you're done you could probably use some metal polish but more than likely your first few tanks the outer shine will be gone.
The only advantage of cleaning pipes and headers would be to clear out the internals for a free flowing exhaust. The metal shine is over rated and last only about one day if that.

Sonic would be nice but I can't imagine it would be very cost-effective for pipe cleaning.

keep a crock pot full of GREEN 100% antifreeze in the corner of the basement(with lid on&pot inside box) at all times. just dont forget that your pipes are cooking(will be hard to forget with the odor lol). every couple weeks i throw a couple pipes in to keep them tidy...
